On 28th of May, the Institute for Ethnic Studies hosted the first Minority Stakeholders Forum in Ljubljana as part of our MSCA\/ERA Research Fellow No\u00e9mi Nagy<\/a><\/span>\u2019s MINCOOP project \"\ud83c\uddea\ud83c\uddfa\"<\/span>. The Forum brought together representatives of minority communities, policy-makers, civil society actors, and researchers.<\/div>\n

Rather than relying on traditional conference presentations, the event was built around moderated small-group discussions, creating space for direct dialogue, exchange of experiences, and honest reflection on some of the most challenging questions in minority protection today:<\/div>\n

  • Who should be recognized as minorities in Slovenia?<\/li>\n
  • Why are some groups recognized while others are not?<\/li>\n
  • Should different minorities enjoy different rights?<\/li>\n
  • How should minority membership be defined?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    These questions generated lively and thought-provoking discussions throughout the day. Participants repeatedly emphasized how much they appreciated the opportunity to actively contribute, share their perspectives, and engage with people they would not normally meet in the same setting. The format encouraged meaningful conversations and mutual learning.<\/div>\n

    Our ambition is for the Minority Stakeholders Forum to become a regular event and a platform for continued dialogue on minority issues in Slovenia.<\/div>\n
