{"id":8554,"date":"2025-09-22T11:31:46","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T11:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inv.si\/?post_type=presentations&#038;p=8554"},"modified":"2026-03-06T09:15:04","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T09:15:04","slug":"final-symposium-of-the-coblalt-project-neighboring-languages-common-future","status":"publish","type":"presentations","link":"https:\/\/inv.si\/en\/presentations\/final-symposium-of-the-coblalt-project-neighboring-languages-common-future\/","title":{"rendered":"Final symposium of the CoBLaLT project: Neighboring languages, common future"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<div id=\"content-text-block-block_c0cb088f76dc6b79ab357afb1cdbc9d9\" class=\"block-content-text-block\">\r\n    <p><p class=\"p2\" style=\"text-align: justify\">On September 18, 2025, the final international symposium of the research project <i>Strengthening the (social-) constructivist approach in Slovenian border areas to the teaching and learning of neighbouring languages \u200b\u200b(SJ) in primary school through a co-created extension and evaluation of the CoBLaLT model<\/i>, entitled <b>Neighbouring languages, a common future: pedagogy for education in border regions<\/b>, was held at the Lojze Bratu\u017e Cultural Centre in Gorizia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The project, led by <b>Irina Moira Cavaion, PhD<\/b> from the Institute for Language Studies of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts Koper, was dedicated to the development and evaluation of a model for teaching neighbouring languages \u200b\u200bin border areas. The <b>Institute for Ethnic Issues (INV)<\/b> also participated in it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">At the symposium, which was rich in content, the following also presented their research results:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>Director <b>Sonja Novak Lukanovi\u0107, PhD<\/b> with the paper <i>Border Areas: Similarities and Differences in the Acceptance of Linguistic and Cultural Diversity<\/i>,<\/li>\n<li>Researcher <b>Barbara Riman, PhD<\/b> with the paper <i>History, Language and Border: Learning a Neighboring Language with Special Emphasis on the Slovenian-Croatian Border<\/i>,<\/li>\n<li>Researcher <b>Robert Devetak, PhD<\/b> with the presentation <i>&#8220;At that moment we felt that we were close and that we had broken the border&#8221;: contacts between the Milojka \u0160trukelj Elementary School and San Vendemiano in the period between the 1960s and 1980s<\/i>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"text-align: justify\">The event confirmed the importance of cooperation and innovative approaches to language teaching in border regions and contributed to the formation of a vision of a common future based on linguistic and
