Since the beginning of 2023, INV has been a consortium partner in the Spoznaj project, which will run until mid-2026. The project is based on the implementation of open science principles in the Slovenian research area.<\/p>\n

Slovenia has incorporated open science into the national legal framework for research activities (law, regulation), and activities to establish an open science ecosystem are planned in the Action Plan for Open Science as an implementing document of Chapter 6 of the Resolution on the Scientific Research and Innovation Strategy of Slovenia 2030 (ReZrIS30).<\/p>\n

The activities from the Action Plan for Open Science will also be financed by funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which provides for the following with regard to the digitization of education and science: ensuring stable, resilient inter-regional and optical connections for the research and education backbone network on at least 40 existing inter-regional and optical connections of the publicly owned research and education network, establishing two new operational data centers for storing data for the purposes of accessibility and reuse of research data and results, adapting twenty public research organizations to operate in accordance with the principles of open science.<\/p>\n

As part of the project Support for the Introduction of Open Science Principles in Slovenia (SPOZNAJ), selected for funding in the public call for proposals of the Recovery and Resilience Plan entitled Adaptation of public research organisations and the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana to work according to the principles of open science, the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana and twenty public research organisations will align their operations with ReZrIS30, ZZrID and the Regulation on the implementation of scientific research work in accordance with the principles of open science, thereby bringing their operations into line with the provisions on open science in the European Research Area. The project partners will conduct training for various open science stakeholders, specialist training on handling FAIR and open access research data, prepare a handbook on open science, and establish support for open science in their own organizations. The project will greatly accelerate the adoption of open science practices among project partners and contribute significantly to the digital transition in scientific research. Partners will share their knowledge and experience in implementing open science principles and transfer them to public infrastructure institutions (IZUM, ARNES), public agencies (ARIS, NAKVIS), privately owned higher education and research institutions, researchers and experts from the commercial sector, private researchers, and the wider interested public. A large part of the research results in the form of publications will thus be accessible through Slovenian repositories, and greater public access to research data is also expected.<\/p>\n
