From 7 to 9 September 2026, the 30th International Scientific Conference “National Minorities, Migration and Security” was held on the Brijuni Islands. The conference is organised by the Centre for International and Security Studies at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb, in cooperation with partners including the Institute for Ethnic Studies. At the opening, the Institute’s Director, Dr Sonja Novak Lukanovič, addressed the participants and extended her congratulations and thanks to everyone who has contributed to the conference’s successful organisation over the years.
Researchers from the Institute for Ethnic Studies presented the following papers:

- Mitja Žagar: “Majority Population Attitudes towards Multiculturalism and Multicultural Policies”
- Antonija Todić, Romana Bešter, Mojca Medvešek and Janez Pirc: “Majority Population Attitudes towards Immigrant Integration into the Welfare State: A Systematic Review”
- Lara Sorgo: “Does Media Choice Matter? Language and Media Consumption among Italian National Community in Slovenia”
The conference provided a valuable forum for presenting the Institute’s research, exchanging scientific insights, discussing current issues related to national minorities, migration, integration and security, and further strengthening international cooperation.
