Mnenja priseljencev in potomcev priseljencev o integraciji in integracijski politiki v Sloveniji
For the successful management of an ethnically and culturally diverse society, it is important to understand the characteristics of immigrant flows and the socio-demographic structure of immigrant populations, which can be gleaned from various statistical data. It is also important to be aware of the opinions, views, perceptions, desires, needs, and ambitions of an increasingly diverse immigrant population. For the purposes of developing and evaluating integration policy, the host country must have information on why or for what reason immigrants have immigrated, how they live in the host country, what their characteristics are, what their aspirations for the future are, and what obstacles they face in integrating into society. Most of this data is not contained in state statistics and data registers and can only be obtained through empirical research. The monograph presents findings on the experiences of immigrants and descendants of immigrants in Slovenia and their perceptions of the integration process, which we arrived at based on an analysis of surveys.
The monograph is the result of work carried out as part of the project Challenges of Immigrant Integration and the Development of Integration Policy in Slovenia (J5-9351) and the research program Minority and Ethnic Studies and the Slovenian National Question (P5-008), which were financed by the Public Agency for Research Activities of the Republic of Slovenia from the state budget.
