In this capital and for the first time so comprehensively assembled work on Slovenian musicians in Croatia, the author presents a list in a clear and scientifically grounded manner that surpasses all previous assumptions about the Slovenian influence on the history of music, its development and its present in Croatia. This work enriches our understanding of the history, development and present state of music in Croatia. It also enriches our understanding of the history and present of the entire musical scene in Croatia, which has been and remains marked by various influences and the individuals who have been active within it. Alongside already well-known and seminal names of Italian origin such as Tommaso Cecchetti and others, as well as the strong influence of Czech musicians, particularly during the 19th and early 20th centuries, this work provides an insight into well-known Slovenian names (Vilhar, Adamič, Barle, Hladnik, Ipavec and others), whose works still exist and live on in the repertoires of many Croatian musical performers, but above all reveals to us a remarkably large scene of lesser-known and/or forgotten figures of musical culture who worked and created in various ways in Croatia.
