The Slovenian minority in Croatia
According to data from the State Institute for Statistics from the 2021 census, there are 7,729 members of the Slovenian national minority living in Croatia. Most of them live in the city of Zagreb and in the counties of Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Istria, Split-Dalmatia, Međimurje, Zagreb, and Varaždin.
Slovenians in Croatia are an officially recognized indigenous national minority, which allows them to elect a special representative to the Croatian parliament, whom they share with members of four other national minorities. The Slovenian national minority in Croatia has a rich cultural life and actively participates in various associations and organizations that work to preserve Slovenian culture, language, and identity.
