Professional workshop for teachers of Slovenian language and culture in Croatia
The professional workshop for teachers of Slovenian language and culture in Croatia is traditionally organized by the Institute for Ethnic Studies (INV) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Slovenia (MVI). This year, the workshop was also financially supported by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia (MZO), and the Association of Slovenian Societies in Croatia served as a co-organizer. Professional training is necessary primarily because there are various forms of Slovenian language instruction in Croatia, and not all teachers have access to additional training. The MVI does organize training for teachers of supplementary Slovenian language classes (DPS), while other teachers do not have this opportunity. The MZO does not organize additional training for Slovenian language teachers, so they do not have the opportunity for further training, which would otherwise be important for their professional development.
The professional workshop for teachers of Slovenian language and culture in Croatia is the only workshop of its kind where all teachers who teach Slovenian in various forms—DPS Slovenian language instruction in Varaždin County (USJK Vž) and Slovenian language instruction based on Model C—come together.
