Slovenians in Croatia: Life Along the Border (1991)

This research examines the formation of the Slovenian community in Croatia following the dissolution of Yugoslavia, with particular emphasis on the impact of the establishment of the state border between Slovenia and Croatia in 1991. It explores how political, social, and identity-related changes affected members of the Slovenian minority, their community organization, sense of belonging, and relationship with Slovenia. Special attention is given to residents of the border region whose everyday lives were transformed by new state and administrative boundaries. The study is based on an analysis of academic literature, media sources, and interviews with members of the Slovenian community. Its aim is to contribute to a better understanding of the development of the Slovenian minority in Croatia and to provide a foundation for future minority policies and cross-border cooperation.
