Supplementary Instruction in Native Languages and Cultures for Children of Other Ethnicities 2021

“As part of this project, we are carrying out activities related to the provision of supplementary instruction in native languages and cultures for children of other ethnicities. These activities are carried out based on the Minister’s decision on funding (6039-6/2020/1), the National Program of Measures for the Roma, and the Resolution on the National Program for Language Policy 2021–25. The tasks include the implementation of established practices for supplementary mother tongue instruction, as well as assistance in conducting Hungarian language classes outside the settlement area and professional support for the continued introduction of supplementary Romani language instruction, which is still in the establishment and piloting phase.

Specific tasks include:

• organizing a professional meeting of all supplementary language teachers, during which we will focus this year on the implementation of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic;
• assistance in conducting Hungarian language classes outside the minority settlement area;
• continuation of the introduction of supplementary Romani language classes, as well as professional support and a monitoring report.”
