Senior Research Associate
Historian, head of the Institute for ethnic studies (INV) Unit in Lendava. He received his doctorate in 2002 from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Pécs in Hungary with a thesis entitled Földreform és kolonizáció a Lendvavidéken a két világháború között (Agrarian Reform and Colonization in the Lendava Region between the Two World Wars). He graduated in 1997 from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs with a thesis entitled A lendvavidéki magyarság a demográfiai adatok tükrében 1910-1991 között (Hungarians in the Lendava area in the light of statistical data between 1910 and 1991).
His main areas of research include the history of the Hungarian national community in Slovenia, the history and demography of Prekmurje in the 19th and 20th centuries, and agrarian reform and colonization in Yugoslavia between the two wars. In recent years, he has devoted particular attention to research into bilingual education in Prekmurje and the political participation of the Hungarian national community in Slovenia.
He is a member of several professional associations: Magyar Tudományos Akadémia – köztestületi tag (External Public Body of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences), Pomurska akademska znanstvena unija – PAZU (Pomurje Academic Scientific Union), and Društvo pomurskih madžarskih znanstvenikov in raziskovalcev (Muravidéki Magyar Tudományos Társaság) (Association of Hungarian Scientists and Researchers of Pomurje).
