Support and Development of Slovenian Language Instruction in Croatia – Consultation
The situation of Slovenian language teachers in Croatia, depending on where they teach, is complex, and teachers often face various challenges. This is precisely why the role and activities of Slovenian institutions in Croatia (associations, the Union of Slovenian Associations, and the Institute for Ethnic Issues) are also important. Networking among Slovenian language teachers through activities offered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (MIZŠ), the Ministry of Culture (MIZ), and the Institute for Ethnic Issues (INV) as part of professional development is extremely important for them. This aspect of collaboration allows teachers to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge that they can apply to teaching the Slovenian language in Croatia. An even more important component of these meetings, however, is getting to know one another, strengthening acquaintances and friendships, which consequently also impacts their work.
Due to a lack of appropriate teaching materials for teaching the Slovenian language in Croatia, teachers exchange materials among themselves, which is why this type of professional development and networking is particularly important to them.
