The international scientific conference “The Importance of Exploring Ethnicity in the 21st Century”, which took place on 15 and 16 May 2025 in Ljubljana, has concluded. The conference was prepared by the Institute for Ethnic Issues to celebrate 100 years of operation – a century of research, networking and promoting understanding of ethnic issues in the region and beyond. The event was attended by almost 100 participants and representatives of the general public from 16 countries, and more than 50 researchers presented their contributions on various ethnic and minority issues on 11 diverse panels.
In addition to the contributions, we were able to listen to inspiring introductory lectures by three leading names in the field of ethnic studies:
– Francesco Palermo, PhD (University of Verona and EURAC Research Center, Italy)
– Maurice Crul, PhD (University of Amsterdam, Netherlands)
– Sonja Novak Lukanović, PhD (Institute for Ethnic Studies and University of Ljubljana, Slovenia)
We sincerely thank all participants for their participation, discussion and company.
