On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, a lecture by László Göncz, PhD entitled The Path of Prekmurje to the Kingdom of SHS was held in the Prešeren Hall of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Historian László Göncz has been researching the history of Prekmurje and the Hungarian national community there over the past 150 years for several decades. Last year, his monograph was published in Hungarian on the so-called turbulent period in Prekmurje, which brought about a change in the statehood of the aforementioned area (the title of the book in Hungarian: A Muravidek útja a délszláv királyságba – in translation: The Path of Prekmurje to the Kingdom of SHS). In the last five years, he has published around 10 scientific and several professional articles on the topic and has given lectures at several conferences in Slovenia and Hungary.
The lecture was organized in cooperation with the Committee for the Study of National Minorities at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
