The Academic Network for Cooperation in Southeast Europe: History, Current Moment, Scientific Cooperation in the Region and Its Future Development
The Academic Network for Cooperation in Southeast Europe is a scientific and social initiative for a better society and relations in Southeast Europe. By providing facts, promoting openness and critical thinking, and upholding the highest ethical standards, they strive to contribute to excellence related to scientific results and their application in public policies and society.
The founders of the Academic Network for Cooperation in Southeast Europe are:
- Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade,
- Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Zagreb,
- Institute for Ethnic Issues (INV) in Ljubljana,
- Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo,
- Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Montenegro,
- Institute for Social and Humanistic Research “Euro-Balkan” from Skopje
The round table was attended by:
- Goran Bašić, PhD, Director of the Institute for Social Sciences from Belgrade,
- Prof. Ružica Jakešević, PhD from the Faculty of Political Sciences,
- Prof. Rubin Zemon, PhD, Director of the Center for Advanced Research in Skopje and Prof. Mitja Žagar, PhD, Scientific Advisor at INV and Head of the International Center for Interethnic Relations in Southeast Europe at INV. The round table was moderated by Janez Pirc, PhD.
The participants in the round table gave their assessments of the state of intercultural cooperation in Southeastern Europe. They commented retrospectively on the work done so far and looked into the future of the network. They agreed that the expansion of the academic network with new members, in addition to increased funding, is an important step forward for the network.
