The bilingual municipality of Hodoš (Hodos Község) in the ethnically mixed region of Prekmurje hosted a conference on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, on bilingualism in municipalities, organized by the Ministry of Public Administration for the eleventh time. The conference was intended to discuss the implementation of bilingualism in nine Slovenian municipalities where Italian and Hungarian national communities reside.
At this conference, participants discussed the use of funds and the criteria for calculating the amounts allocated to individual municipalities with Italian or Hungarian national communities, as well as to municipal self-governing national communities. They also discussed the procedure for determining the amount of funds for individual beneficiaries. Part of the program was devoted to a discussion on the implementation of bilingualism in ethnically mixed areas.
The consultation was also attended by a colleague from the Institute for Ethnic Studies and the head of the INV Unit in Lendava (Lendvai Kutatócsoport), Attila Kovács, PhD.
