Lara Sorgo, PhD and Janez Pirc, PhD attended the final conference of the LEGITIMULT project in Brussels as part of the Horizon program, coordinated by Prof. Mitja Žagar, PhD at the Institute for Ethnic Issues. During the two-day discussion, the participants discussed issues of legitimate crisis management, trust and democracy in times of crisis.
Lara Sorgo, PhD participated in the panel From Research to Practice, where she presented the results of a citizens’ assembly organized in Izola in cooperation with the Public Institute for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Development Projects of the Municipality of Izola. The participants formulated recommendations for handling crises, for example in the event of a new pandemic, among other things, they highlighted the key role of public media as a trustworthy source of information and expressed people’s need for clear instructions for handling crises.
Janez Pirc, PhD participated in the panel, where they discussed key experiences gained during the implementation of the LEGITIMULT project. In his contribution, he specifically highlighted the situation of minority and vulnerable groups, drawing on the findings of 70 interviews.
