Between 9 and 11 October 2025, the traditional seminar for teachers of the Slovenian language in Croatia was held at the premises of the Zadar City Library, which was prepared by the Institute for Ethnic Issues in cooperation with the Association of Slovenian Societies in Croatia and the Slovenian Cultural Society Lipa Zadar.
At the beginning, the participants were welcomed by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training of the Republic of Slovenia, the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, the Institute of Education of the Republic of Slovenia, the Association of Slovenian Societies in Croatia and the Institute for Ethnic Issues (INV). The seminar was attended by INV colleagues – Barbara Riman, PhD, Ana Malnar and Saša Kernjak Zubović.
The seminar was intended to provide professional support to teachers of the Slovenian language, encourage the exchange of experiences and strengthen cooperation between educational institutions and Slovenian communities. The three-day program included professional lectures, workshops and discussions on modern approaches to teaching the Slovenian language, as well as presentations of the activities of individual teachers and societies.
The seminar also presented a new bilingual picture book “Čukec Nukec / Ćukić Nukić”, authored by Helena Janežič. The translation and printing of the picture book were carried out in cooperation with the Institute for Ethnic Issues and the Slovenian Home of the KPD Bazovica.
In addition to the professional work, the seminar was also an opportunity for socializing, networking and cultural events, including the exhibition of the 18th painting colony “Jože Arzenšek 2025” and the presentation of new publications by SKD Lipa Zadar. The participation was very good, and the atmosphere was extremely encouraging, which confirms the importance of such meetings for strengthening professional ties and the Slovenian community in Croatia.
