Ethnic Issues – Coordination and Evaluation of Project Activities (Slovenians in Croatia)
The process of teaching the Slovenian language in Croatia is complex and unique. There are three forms of Slovenian language instruction, each with its own rules and particularities, which often present teachers with various challenges. This is precisely why organizing the roundtable was so important. Teachers, language instructors, and members of the Slovenian community in Croatia, as well as representatives of Slovenian state institutions responsible for Slovenian language instruction in neighboring countries, were able to highlight the most pressing issues and their greatest concerns in an open and relaxed dialogue.
All participants expressed a desire to see an increase in the number of elementary and high school students, as well as all other participants in Slovenian language instruction. They are aware that, in addition to the descendants of Slovenians in Croatia, others are also learning Slovenian, seeing in the Slovenian language an opportunity for their own development and entry into the Slovenian market.
A collection of papers is planned for publication in 2023, featuring contributions from all participants and those who wished to participate but were unable to do so this time for objective reasons.
