The author has set herself a very ambitious task. With a keen eye on the past and a highly analytical presentation of the current political situation of Native Americans in the United States, she has created a text that is rich in content and original and concise in its presentation of a variety of perspectives. She has chosen the contemporary struggle of Native Americans as the central problem and phenomenon. The struggle to “rediscover” their own history and cultural identity; a struggle that is understandable and necessary given their marginalization and irrelevance to the majority population.
