Analysis of the Academic Performance of Roma Children in Primary School: Inclusion and Achievement of Roma Students in Primary School during the 2021/22–2025/26 Period

The research is aimed at analyzing the inclusion and success of Roma pupils in primary education in Slovenia. It is based on quantitative data collected from a sample of 37 primary schools with Roma students (the number of schools depends on their responsiveness) over a period of five consecutive school years (2021/22–2025-26). The data will be structured by individual grades and gender of students and analyzed at the level of the entire country, regions, and selected municipalities. Most indicators will be examined cross-sectionally, but for two generations of students, the selected variables will also be monitored longitudinally, throughout the entire nine-year primary education. The research will focus in particular on the following content areas: the number and share of Roma and non-Roma students by individual grades; the share of Roma and non-Roma students who do not successfully complete the grade; and the share of Roma students who successfully complete the 9th grade.
