Ethnic Issues – Coordination and Evaluation of Project Activities (Slovenians in Croatia) – Participants in Supplementary Slovenian Language Classes in Croatia: A Study
This study examines the profiles of participants in supplementary Slovenian language education in Croatia, their motivations for learning Slovenian, and the role of the language in their everyday lives. Special attention is given to the relationship between Slovenian as a language of identity, linked to the preservation of cultural belonging within the Slovenian community, and Slovenian as a form of linguistic capital that provides opportunities for education, employment, and cross-border mobility. The study also explores the impact of digital practices and artificial intelligence on language learning and use. It is based on the assumption that the function of supplementary Slovenian language education is gradually expanding from preserving ethnic identity to developing practical language competencies relevant to contemporary social and economic contexts.
